Description of Well Superintendent | Job Summary: The Well Superintendent has overall project responsibility for the execution of well programs (drilling, completion, workover) to ensure that operations are performed in a safe, efficient and cost-effective manner. Focal point for the Wellsite Supervisors for reviewing daily operations and program changes. Relationships: • Reports directly to the Project Manager Wellsite Supervisors report to and are mentored by the Well Superintendent. Interfaces with Drilling Contractor / Rig Management Essential Responsibilities and Duties: QHSE- • Demonstrates QHSE leadership in the project including regular visits to the wellsite • Ensures compliance with Schlumberger Policies and standards. • Attends office and wellsite safety meetings • Conducts QHSE / rig audits with the QHSE Coordinator • Ensures HSE and SQ ( Service Quality ) incidents reported in a timely manner • Participates in HSE and SQ ( Service Quality ) event investigations • Reviews wellsite RIR’s (Risk Identification Reports), follows up and provides feedback • Leads SQ ( Service Quality )meetings with key contractors e.g. rig company Planning and Operations- • Attends / conducts a Pre-Spud Meeting at the rig site with all operation staff and involved parties (service company representatives) • Forecasts and plans medium and long term to anticipate resources to meet program requirements e.g. forward rig schedule, Wellsite Supervisor assignment etc • Daily follow up of operations, assesses and reports physical progress against plan • Anticipates operational changes and needs, revises appropriate plans to ensure continued successful operations • Discusses program changes with Wellsite Supervisor and project team • Follows Management of Change (MOC) process • Participates in the selection and evaluation of service companies, suppliers and equipment • Ensures cost control of the program versus AFE ( Authorization for Expenditure ) • Coordinates the operational activities of Schlumberger Segments and Third Parties to ensure compliance with work program, optimum efficiency and service quality • Manages incentive programs • Attends the rig as need for critical wellsite activities e.g. well control events • Assures the proper training and development for the Wellsite Supervisor and other personnel under his/her direct supervision Communication- • Conducts daily meetings with rig (s) • Communicates with rig as needed to review operations • Ensures proper communication with project organization including progress Vs plan Training and Development- • Mentors Wellsite Supervisors • Mentors Well Engineers in operations | ||
Skills required for Well Superintendent | Previous Experience and Competencies: • BSc Degree in Engineering, preferably in Petroleum Engineering Competencies to be kept current: • 10 years experience in Well construction activities as a Well Site Supervisor and Well Engineer Behavior: • Leadership • Task Oriented • Forward Looking Problem Solving • Deductive Reasoning • Team Development • Mentorship • Communication skills • Energy Level and Stress Management | ||
